Trialists are part and parcel of pre-season training, although not just any old Tom, Dick or Harry is being given a chance by Carlisle this summer.

Greg Abbott has revealed to The News & Star that eight trialists will be looked at when pre-season training begins next week. They will train for a couple of days, if he is happy they will have another week and then if he continues to be happy with them they will get some match time and the chance to potentially earn a full time contract.

These players, unknown at present as you would expect, have come to the club from ‘good sources’ but will have to be better than what he currently has available if they are going to stay, although Abbott appreciates that he has to ‘weigh up’ if they are free agents for a reason!
