Following his performances over the month of January in League Two, Carlisle United’s Jack Bonham finds himself shortlisted this time around.
Sky Bet League Two really is the place to look at the moment if you want a promotion race far too close to call.
The fourth tier of English football has often seen sides drop from third to eighth in the league in recent weeks, such is the close nature of the division, and that is bound to continue in the coming months.
Luton Town have a gap, of course, but after that it is anyone’s guess with the likes of Wycombe Wanderers going on a great run to get involved in the automatic spots with Notts County and Accrington Stanley still in the hunt, too.
There’s still plenty to be decided this season, then, but the next decision that needs to be made concerns who’s going to win the Bristol Street Motors PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for January.
Let’s take a look at the nominees…
Jack Bonham
Jack Bonham and Carlisle finished the month in very strong style as they look to climb up the table as far as possible. The men from Cumbria recorded four clean sheets one after the other during January and Bonham was there to ensure each one was chalked up.
Billy Kee
Billy Kee continues to impress up top for Accrington Stanley with him leading their promotion challenge from the front. Kee scored three goals during the month for the Lancashire side whilst he also notched in the game against Morecambe but that had to be abandoned.
Marc McNulty
McNulty hit three goals for the Sky Blues this month just gone as he continues to show he’s the main man for them up top at the moment. He is in a rich vein of form right now and it’d be no surprise to see him continue in this way for the rest of the campaign.
Jon Stead
Jon Stead continues to score goals for Notts County and showed no sign of letting up in their promotion challenge in January. He hit a quartet of strikes during the month as the men from Nottingham look to beat off the likes of Wycombe and Accrington Stanley.
Sean McConville
With Kee up top and McConville scoring goals from midfield, Accrington Stanley have a great chance of winning promotion this season. The midfielder hit three goals during January including a brace against Port Vale as he maintained he excellent form so far.
Enzio Boldewijn
Crawley Town have become one of the form sides in League Two with them moving to just a handful of points away from the top six. Boldewijn has been a key catalyst behind that, too, with four goals coming across games against Barnet and Accrington Stanley.
Vital Football announced previously that this season we will be assisting in giving fans the opportunity to vote in The PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Awards.
With the aim of giving more fans across the UK the opportunity to recognise the best performing player each month, across all four professional tiers, Vital Football will be hosting the voting widget (technical term) moving forward and you will find that below this piece, and you can place your vote for the player you think is most deserving (it’ll be your player – let’s be honest!).
The winner will be announced following the closure of the voting window.
