It wasn’t the much talked about home tie versus a certain Lancashire outfit that was so desired by many. No the competition threw up a tough looking task in the form of Bradford City.
Managed by Colin Todd and with experienced professionals like ex Middlesborough man – Dean Windass, ex LeedsUnited defender – David Wetherall and the unfulfilled talent that was Danny Cadamarteri who didnt quite cut the mustard at Everton, Leeds United or Sheffield United previously, in their ranks, the Bantams wont be easy opposition.
Last season they finished mid table (11th) in League One and are one of the fancied teams for a promotion push this time round.
The tie will take place at Brunton Park week commencing 21 August 2006. It is sure to be an enthralling encounter as United look to progress beyond the first round for the first time since 1998.
