Carlisle have struggled badly defensively in the early weeks of the season whereas Coventry weren’t goal shy.

The recipe traditionally for a nil-nil draw then wasn’t it!

However, that wasn’t the case at all at Brunton Park on Saturday with Carlisle once more put to the sword…

Clarke (4) was given far too much time and space to line up and space, he picked his spot from 20-yards and gave Gillespie no chance. 1-0 Coventry.

More alarmingly than the fact Carlisle are shipping a lot of goals is the fact they are shipping them quickly with a game soon out of touch and just two-minutes later they were two-down! Moussa’s (6) solo effort saw him weave through the defence and chip over a hapless Gillespie again.

A foul of Beck on the quarter hour mark gave Carlisle a foothold, a penalty was awarded and a chance to get back into the game came…

Berrett stepped up but Murphy saved well to keep out the penalty and keep the Cumbrians 2-0 down.

A little over 30-minutes in and the game was over. Daniels (32) slotted in the third with the help of non-existent defending once again.

Carlisle regrouped after the break and looked to be getting into the game a bit but another defensive error allowed Clarke (65) to run through and he added his second and Coventry’s fourth.

Potts would have scored a blinding goal for Carlisle, with Murphy off his line, but his effort from inside his own half came back off the post.

All in all though it was Coventry that dominated and would have had more goals of their own but for some good saves from Gillespie and the help of the woodwork themselves with former Carlisle striker Manset denied but 4-0 was more than convincing…
