Carlisle’s run of four successive defeats, and a winless run stretching some six-matches, ended on Saturday when we collected a vital three-points in our battle to stay in the Football League by beating Dagenham one-nil.

The win at Brunton Park was secured with both sides ending with 10-men apiece following a ‘mass scuffle’ in injury-time.

It looked like it might have been an afternoon of frustration for us when O’Hanlon got onto the end of a Dempsey cross but he struck the post with us denied but early in the second half Bradford loanee Kennedy (55) followed up Brough’s initial effort to break the deadlock.

That goal was enough to win us the points but we went down to 10-men, with Dagenham’s Obileye also sent off, when we lost Archibald-Henville to his second red card in a matter of weeks, with both shown red after an ’18-man scuffle.’

Victory takes us up to 20th in the League 2 table and more importantly six-points clear of the bottom two!

We’ve still got work to do but this is a win that moves us closer to the assured safety that Curle had promised, we’ll move a step closer with a result against league leaders Burton next up but will we manage this?
