Carlisle can go into the final throws of the League 2 season in relaxed fashion now that our safety has been assured, and down to what we’ve down following the win over play-off chasing Plymouth on Saturday.

A goal in each half, from the two players who not too long ago seems on their way out as – I’m sure? – they both went to the PFA not too long ago with a grievance they had, saw us through to a two-nil win at Brunton Park.

Gillespie did well to keep out O’Connor and Reid efforts to make sure Plymouth didn’t go ahead, which is what we did when Dicker (29) volleyed home from 25-yards past Plymouth ‘keeper McCormick.

Early in the second half Dempsey put Paynter (50) in and he made no mistake in making it two-nil and securing the points and our Football League status!

This win moves us nine-points clear of the bottom two, and makes sure whatever happens now we’ll be in this league next season, if Plymouth will remains to be seen as they only keep their play-off place down to goal-difference alone….

Survivals been secured but we still have games to play and will want to get results in them, starting against Stevenage next up.

What way will this one go though?
