At half time, in fact at the hour mark, things were looking grand for Carlisle to end the season on a real high with a comfortable win over Hartlepool, who also knew they were safe going into this game, but a Hartlepool comeback meant we had to be content with a draw in the end.

With us three-nil up at half time there didn’t seem anyway back but an incredible comeback saw Hartlepool deny us in the end with the game ending in a three-three draw at Brunton Park on Saturday.

Kyle Dempsey (25) got us ahead when he scored from 20-yards, at that time there wasn’t much indication of what was to come but a little over five minutes later it was two when Rigg (31) was on hand to convert a cross.

Two became three when Kennedy (33) headed home number three just two-minutes later to leave us well in control with barely half an hour played!

Hartlepool loanee Hugill (63) pulled one back at the midway point of the second half with Duckworth (64) scoring a fine goal a minute later.

That incredible comeback was complete with time running out as Hugill (86) made it three-three, no ‘damp squib’ to end the season was it, although we’ll still be disappointed not to have seen the game out….
