Scunthorpe 3-1 Carlisle

Glanford Park

Carlisle’s unbeaten run of form, and the defensive solidity it had brought, came to an end when they were beaten at Scunthorpe on Tuesday night.

By the time the game had reached it’s midway point of the first half Scunthorpe were already two-up thanks to goals from Akpo Sodje (17) and Paul Reid (22).

With the half time break looming Carlisle got back into the game when James Berrett’s (45+1) effort squeezed under Iron keeper Sam Slocombe, however only the post denied Sodje restoring the two-goal cushion immediately.

Scunthorpe came close to extending their lead in the second half with Slocombe making amends for the Carlisle goal with a couple of good saves.

Deep into injury time Sodje (90+2) raced clear to continue his fine goalscoring form and seal a 3-1 win for The Iron, seeing Carlisle’s unbeaten run of four games come to an end.
