Carlisle were on course for a win at Preston on Tuesday night until a late, late strike denied them.

Having weathered an early Preston storm it was Carlisle that had the chance to take an early lead when Preston keeper Steve Simonsen brought down Joe Garner. Garner (31) himself stepped up and successfully converted to ensure that the visitors went into the break ahead.

The visitors looked as though they had done enough to hold off the home side but their pressure eventually told with substitute Graham Cummins (90+4) forcing an equaliser deep into injury-time to see the game end in a 1-1 draw.
