Pascal Chimbonda’s had a positive impact at Carlisle since his arrival, both on and off the field.

With his short term contract on the verge of running out it’s being reported in the News & Star that the defender has agreed a new contract to stay with the Cumbrians until the end of the season.

Graham Kavanagh has made it clear that he’d like to keep his former Wigan and Sunderland teammate, also a world cup runner up with France, at Brunton Park but his agent had claimed an interest from other clubs.

Chimbonda has been praise for his impact, off the pitch too, so if the boss can tie him down to a new contract he’d be more than please.
