Its back to Saturday match action tomorrow for Blues, as John Gorman’s Northampton Town are the visitors to Brunton Park.

With a 100% home league record this season, Blues have the capability of continuing that rich vein of form against a fellow promotion side from last season. Cobblers themselves are unbeaten on their travel, winning twice on the road, last time out at Rotherham United 2-1 and before that 1-0 at Gillingham. Both of these sides are coincidentally, stuck in the bottom two places in the League One table.

Blues are bolstered by the recent loan signing of midfielder Paul Thirlwell from Derby County, who arrives on a three month loan and may well be in contention for a first team start.

Blues will be in for a defensive test tomorrow as Messrs McGleish and Kirk, who have bagged seven league goals between this season arrive in sparkling form. McGleish in fact scored both goals in the recent 2-1 victory at Rotherham. The Cobblers aren’t afraid of attacking and can be clinical, so Blues will have to be on top of there game to thwart the Northamptonshire sides challenge.

Last time we met, Blues thrashed Cobblers 3-0 at Sixfields, last time at Brunton Park, Cobblers left with all three points in a non eventful 1-0 defeat of Blues. Hopefully, tomorrow, Blues will erase that memory by taking all three points and maintaining their challenge in the top five positions of the League One table.
