Lee Miller is one of the out of contract players this summer that Greg Abbott is keen to retain.

The Scot isn’t ruling out a Carlisle stay, however Abbott (as he told The News & Star) knows there isn’t much he can do in order to retain him and is trying all he can to make that happen.

Miller wants to “see what is around” before making a decision, Abbott said: ‘It doesn’t matter how far I put Lee’s arm up his back, he is going to make a decision that’s right for him.

‘He is telling me that he is serious about staying, but he wants to see what is around and wants to see what is the best thing for him to do next season.

‘Out of respect you have to let him do that. We’ve seen it before with players here. It’s the way the game is and they are free to do that.’

Losing the 29-year-old would be a big blow to Carlisle and their future plans but players do come and go and no one is irreplaceable.
