What has become something of ‘normal service’ for Carlisle in recent times was resumed as our defensive frailties were again exposed with a heavy defeat.

A four-four draw last weekend showed defensive weaknesses at Carlisle, at half time on Saturday things weren’t too bad but by fulltime we had been soundly beaten by Bury, who went away from Brunton Park with a 3-0 win.

Minutes into the second half Danny Rose (48) headed home to put Bury into the lead with Craig Jones (59) finishing off a good move to make it two just before the hour.

Mark Gillespie was left with no chance again when Ryan Lowe (80) thundered home the third 10-minutes from time to condemn us to a three-nil home defeat and end the unbeaten record of caretaker bosses Paul Thirlwell and Tony Caig.
