Carlisle United are represented in the latest League Cup team of the round that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Mark Ellis in the first round tie between Fleetwood Town and Carlisle United was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the League Cup competition.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Ellis was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the EFL Cup blurb read.

‘One of six sides to humble seeded opponents, Carlisle earned a hard-fought win over Fleetwood Town, and Ellis was key at the back, putting his body on the line to help the U`s into Round Two.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Ellis for his recognition, but the most important thing was of course the win.
