The Carlisle run in the FA Cup is over for another year after the fourth round defeat against Everton at Brunton Park on Sunday.

A three-nil defeat to Everton, which saw Carlisle two-down inside 15-minutes, means United are now left to focus on the league and looking to secure a play-off place in League 2.

With only two minutes played Aaron Lennon’s ball into Arouna Kone saw him put Everton ahead with Lennon adding the second and pretty much ending the Carlisle hopes on 14-minutes when he converted Bryan Oviedo’s pass.

Midway though the second half Ross Barkley made absolutely sure when his effort from distance was deflected in.

These were the other fourth round results.

Some interesting results, without too many upsets really as on the whole those expected to go through did go through or at least remain in the competition! Well, I would say anyway.

But without a doubt the stand out result, with them causing an upset to progress, has to be the three-two win for Shrewsbury with the League 1 side beating Championship one Sheffield Wednesday to see them into the next round keep those cup dreams alive.
