Earlier today it was being said in the News & Star that Graham Kavanagh hoped to confirm more signings ahead of the return to pre-season training tomorrow.

It was rumoured that the Carlisle boss was ‘stepping up’ his interest in making his fifth signing of the summer with this signing thought to be a central defender that would leave the Cumbrians left with a ‘solid spine’ for next season.

The club are said to be facing competition from a league 2 rival for the ‘mystery man’ with discussions taking place this afternoon.

As yet nothing has been officially confirmed, however this doesn’t mean that a signing isn’t close or hasn’t even been made with an announcement maybe coming later this evening or tomorrow morning.

The next signing would be a central midfielder as the boss is now believed to have accepted defeat in his efforts to convinced James Berrett to stay at Brunton Park.
