After falling behind to an early goal from Teague, United fought back only to suffer a further set back when McNeil put the home side two up. Just when things looked to be heading in the wrong direction, Super Karl Hawley fired United back into the game with a 41st minute strike.

At half time its 2-1 to Macclesfield, overall its all square at three each with one away goal scored by both side. An intiruguing second 45 minutes awaits, with United finishing stronger than the home side.
