Having been crowned The News & Star Player of the Year Matty Robson, quoted in that very newspaper, has reaffirmed a desire to stay at Carlisle.

The winger has enjoyed his time at Brunton Park, and as much as he admits if an opportunity to “move forward” presented itself he’d have to give it serious thought he’s not at all opposed to signing a new deal.

Robson, who is shortly out of contract, said: ‘As soon as I came to the club four years ago I knew it was the right move for me. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

‘I’d be happy to stay if it works out. If there was ever a chance to improve or better myself as a player I’d have to seriously look at that, but I would be happy at Carlisle United.

‘They took a risk on me and it would only be right for me to see that option first.’

28-year-old Robson is one of 12 players out of contract at Carlisle this summer so it promises to be a pretty hectic off-season for the club.

Half the battle is won with him though as he’s interested in remaining!
