Carlisle went into the weekends meeting bottom of the table, but following a second successive win we vacated that spot.

We went into the game in 24th place in league 2, Hartlepool were in 22nd, but following Carlisle’s 3-0 win at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon we moved off the foot of the table with Hartlepool now occupying that unwanted spot, they’re also seeking a new boss with Colin Cooper resigning.

Hartlepool could, maybe should, have taken the lead with Charlie Wyke having a good chance but he wasn’t able to head home from close range as the half ended nil-nil, which would have suited Keith Curle much more.

The second half was better with the deadlock broken early by Steven Rigg (54), a long throw caused problems and he was left with a simple finish to score his first goal for us.

With Hartlepool pushing for an equaliser, they couldn’t find, Stephen Elliott (82) came off the bench to score his first goal for us too and double the lead with eight-minutes to play.

Mark Beck (89) rounded off a three-nil win in the last minute.
