Earlier this season United took all three points from their visit to the Gloucestershire based side(Cheltenham), this weekend they face the return fixture at Brunton Park and will be hoping to complete a league double over their opponents.

Cheltenham of course are no favourites of anyone at Carlisle United, having sealed our relegation to the National Conference a couple of seasons ago with a win on our soil. This Saturday then provides a suitable opportunity to avenge that defeat and what it stood for.

Cheltenham themselves are suitably placed for a play off position come the end of the season. A win and three points for United will pull them further away from the chasing pack all of whom are competing for one of the automatic promotion places, currently occupied by Wycombe Wanderers, United and Leyton Orient.

With Michael Bridges hitting top form and Karl Hawley as devastating as ever in front of goal, United will be hoping to embark upon another unbeaten league run. The result and performance at Boston midweek was one of the best of the season, each and every player who featured in the game proved their ability, defensively we were sound, the midfield was bossed and up front – well a 5-0 victory away from home says it all.

Another good attendance is expected at Brunton Park this weekend, hopefully they will witness United taking a further step towards automatic promotion to League One.
Twelve months ago, no one would have ever envisaged the team being in this position, making the feat even more remarkable.
