Carlisle have beaten off competition from relegation rivals Hartlepool to secure the services of Middlesbrough striker Charlie Wyke.

Wyke had been on loan with Hartlepool during the first half of the season but after 14-apearances, in which he scored four-goals, he returned to his parent club Middlesbrough but hadn’t feature – in fact the 22-year-old left the Riverside Stadium having failed to make a first-team appearance for the club with his football coming during loan spells away from the Championship outfit.

After an undisclosed fee was agreed with Middlesbrough he’s decided to come to Brunton Park with him signing an 18-month contract with us hopeful that he’ll score the goals to make sure that we do stay in the Football League.
