Monday’s “decision day” saw Jonathan Meades fail to win himself a contract with Carlisle.

Meades, formerly of Cardiff, hasn’t been able to convince Greg Abbott to sign him having been on trial with the club for three-weeks.

Abbott did admit that the club came “really close” to signing him but the emergence of others already at the club, or also on trial, has prevented this as has the decision that it wouldn’t have been fair on Meades to move him from Cardiff just to be a “squad player” with the club.

Recommendations to others to sign him have been made though.
