Sky Bet League 2 – Luke Joyce – CARLISLE UNITED v Crawley Town

Carlisle United midfielder Luke Joyce is the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month winner for October, after receiving 53% of the public vote.

Joyce brought the ball down from Andre Blackman`s defensive header and unleashed a fierce drilled strike into the top left corner of the goal via the Crawley bar.

Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman said: “Joyce doesn`t score many by his own admission but this is one that any player would remember for a long time. The first touch tees it up perfectly, and the strike is unstoppable.

“I always think it`s better when a long range strike cannons in off the bar and this one is a real classic of the genre!”

Joyce said: “I`m chuffed to bits to win the award. I was chuffed with the goal itself, and to get rewarded with this as well is brilliant.

“When there`s something voted for by the fans, it`s that bit more special. To be top of the vote feels really good.

“It`s got to be up there with the best goals I`ve ever scored. To hit it from that distance and see it sail in and hit the top corner off the bar, I was chuffed to bits.”

Joyce beat off competition from Cambridge United`s Luke Berry and Hartlepool United`s Nathan Thomas.

The shortlist for the poll was decided by a judging panel following suggestions from supporters via Twitter.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; Sky Bet Sponsorship Manager David Tweed and EFL Commercial Marketing Manager James Walker.
