Matt Robson will spend the remainder of the season away from Carlisle having agreed to join Gateshead on loan.

Long-serving Robson, who arrived at Brunton Park in 2009, had been transfer-listed by Keith Curle last year with him deciding that as the 29-year-old wasn’t getting much first-team football with us it would be best if he got it elsewhere – in other words he was ‘surplus to requirements’ with the Cumbrians in the manager’s mind….

Robson will be looking to get plenty of football between now and the end of the summer as he tries to help the non-league outfit into the conference play-offs.

In effect Robson’s Carlisle career, after more than 200-appearances, is over as the two-year extension that he signed in 2013 expires this summer and it’s highly unlikely that he’ll be getting a new deal.
