A season of woe for Carlisle continues on Tuesday night as we slumped to yet another defeat.

Carlisle remain rock bottom of the league 2 table following a 1-0 defeat against Shrewsbury Town at the Greenhous Meadow, which ended in double disappointment with one half of our caretaker management team sent off!

Shrewsbury dominated the majority of the games; certainly the first half with Mark Gillespie needing to save from Jordan Clark, while another Clark effort and efforts from James Collins and James Wesolowski went close.

The goal, which had been coming, finally arrived shortly before the break when Jermaine Grandison (42) headed home a cross from Nathaniel Knight-Percival to send the hosts into the break one-nil up.

Despite the chances that Shrewsbury had only a save by ‘keeper Jayson Leutwiler, onto the bar, kept out Antony Sweeney’s effort.

Mark Ellis’ header was cleared off the line by David Symington to keep it at one with Gillespie also saving well to keep out a Collins header with our misery compounded at the end when caretaker player-manager Paul Thirlwell was sent off for collecting a second booking.
