Carlisle have received official notification that the suspension for Glenn Murray will stand in the league fixtures as well.

The 21 year old striker got a straight red for dangerous play in the 80th minute whilst playing for the reserves against Preston on Monday night.

Manager Paul Simpson told the official site that Murray, who has made 11 first team appearances this season:

‘it is very disappointing and a harsh lesson for him to learn. He knows he has let himself down but what he will have to do now is take the punishment and make sure that, when it is time for him to come back, he is ready and raring to go, and that he shows us that he has learned his lesson from it all.’

He also explains why the ban has been carried forward for first team games as well as reserve matches:

‘I believe the situation is that reserve sendings off only count for reserve-team games. However, if it is sent in as violent conduct or as dangerous play then it may carry over to our fist-team games.’
