Simpson Turn Tail

Nobody can deny ex Carlisle united boss Paul Simpson a crack at football management at a higher level. Sad fact of the matter being that we all thought he would be leading us into the Championship and not taking control at Preston! I only hope for his sake he has made the right move.

Preston, despite what there fans may think, aren’t a big club, yes they have reached the lay off finals of the Championship league for the last two seasons, this time round they lost to a particualrly poor Leeds United, prior to that it was West Ham who ended their challenge. Good luck to them, being in the losers stakes all the time, perhaps they think Simmo can take them that one step further?

But why then, did the average manager that was Billy Davies leave to go to poverty stricken Derby County, yet another club going nowhere? Reason? Because he knew Preston could or wouldn’t go any further! So what has Simoo let himself in for?

Frankly I dont really care, he is no longer anything to do with Carlisle United – history. Thanks Paul you did us proud, but one cant help but feeling more than a little betrayed at him jumping ship at the first option – particularly to Preston. So goodbye Paul and good luck. No doubt you will take some of our stars and all the backroom staff – Dennis Booth lives in the East Midlands so he will no doubt be moving on too.

I presume that in his mind, he sees Preston as a bigger club, and if he does well could be in the premiership with them.
