It’s cup action for Carlisle on Tuesday as the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy gets underway for another season.

We’re without a manager but the footballing world doesn’t stop and we’ll look to add some joy with a JPT win at Accrington Stanley’s Crown Ground tonight.

Illness has swept through the Accrington team, players to miss training this week. Luke Simpson (suspension) could return with Michael Liddle (knock) also back in training.

Paul Thirlwell has taken up a player/caretaker after the sacking of Graham Kavanagh; the injury problems have been inherited though.

Sean O’Hanlon (ankle) was injured in Saturday’s five-nil thrashing at Cambridge, which cost Kavanagh his job ultimately, with Danny Kearns (thigh) missing that game due to a training injury. Courtney Meppen-Walter (knee), Troy Archibald-Henville (shin), Mark Beck (ear) and Matty Robson (knee) are all out.
