One of a few trialists at Carlisle this summer is very keen on securing a contract at Brunton Park.

In fact Danny Emerton, as he told the News & Star, has gone as far as saying he could see himself “fitting in”. He said: ‘I’ve been here a week and it’s been great – I could see myself fitting in here and hopefully I’ll be able to.

‘It’s a great little club. I’ve come from Hull and it’s a lot different, more compact, more of a family unit.’

Whatever the future brings for the midfielder, free following his release by Hull, he just wants to be playing first team football having failed to manage this in his three-years as a pro with his former club. He actually admitted that he’d given up the hope of breaking through at the KC Stadium.

Emerton played the entire 90-minutes of Friday nights win over Penrith.
