Now back from a holiday of his own Greg Abbott, as he told The News & Star, is hoping to wrap up a transfer or two very soon.

The Carlisle boss has admitted an interest in Josh Gillies and the out-of-contract Gateshead winger is one that he is hoping to take a “calculated gamble” on with the compensation due to the Non-League side not a problem.

The other player that Abbott hopes to conclude a deal for is believed to be another winger with pace that has played at League One level, released by a rival of Carlisle.

All being well this week can end with at least one new arrival at Brunton Park.
