Carlisle United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Charlie Wyke in the three two victory over Exeter City at the weekend at Brunton Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Wyke was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘A 97th-minute winner from Wyke capped a dramatic victory as Carlisle bounced back from a first loss of the season last time out. The striker scored an early equaliser for the Cumbrians, who fell behind twice, and then fired home at the death to send the Brunton Park faithful into raptures.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Wyke for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Jamie Jones (Stevenage), Morgan Fox (Charlton Athletic), Joe Worrall (Nottingham Forest), Scott Wiseman (Scunthorpe United), Tom Ince (Derby County), Chris Clements (Mansfield Town), George Francomb (Wimbledon), Will Atkinson (Southend United), Omar Bogle (Grimsby Town), Dwight Gayle (Newcastle United), Charlie Wyke (Carlisle United).

Manager – Marcus Bignot (Grimsby Town).
