Greg Abbott admits that Carlisle might have been ‘slightly fortunate’ to secure the points against Chesterfield on Saturday, although he was happy to take what the club got.

The Carlisle manager knows that his side were not at their best but knows you have to ‘take what you can get’ sometimes: ‘we may be classed as slightly fortunate to win it, but you take what you can get in football. One thing we have is fantastic spirit and determination.

‘We didn’t ask enough questions of Chesterfield, but found a way to win it. We had to change the game and get higher up the pitch quicker because in the first half our passing was laboured.’
