Inaccurate Speculation

Keith Curle has had a pop at the agent of Brad Potts after a proposed move to Blackpool failed to materialise in the end.

Blackpool had made a move for the 20-year-old during the transfer window, and had been looking to lure the midfielder to the Championship, they’ll most likely be playing in league 1 next season though, but this didn’t happen in the end….

Curle has told the News & Star that he feels his agent was offering up ‘inaccurate speculation’ and looking to ‘whip up further interest’ in his client having claimed interest in Potts even after Blackpool had backed out of a deal, when an offer for £150,000 was turned down.

‘We got a phonecall from Brad Potts’s agent saying that Blackpool had been onto him, saying could they do the deal? Nobody spoke to me, or (John Nixon, managing director), or the chairman. It was purely speculation on behalf of the player’s agent, so it wasn’t followed up.

‘On Tuesday we played a reserve game at Blackpool and I stood next to their manager, Lee Clark, and his backroom staff – and Brad Potts wasn’t mentioned once. That makes you think perhaps it was something started by the agent to create a little bit of interest. Perhaps he was bored and wanted to have something to do on transfer deadline day.’

Potts, whatever had or hasn’t happened is still with Carlisle and will now remain that way until the summer at least…. Unless a suitable loan offer with ‘the option to buy’ comes in when the loan window reopens tomorrow.
