Back-to-back victories were secured by Carlisle at the weekend as a crucial three-points were secured against in-form relegation rivals Tranmere.

We ended the game at Prenton Park with 10-men but two second half goals, within five-minutes of each other, proved the difference in a two-nil win that has seen us move above Tranmere in the league 2 table and open up more daylight between ourselves and the bottom two….

Both sides had chances in a goalless first half, our ‘keeper Gillespie forced into saves as was Tranmere’s Fon Williams.

Tranmere could have taken a second half lead before Wyke (65) scored his latest goal for us since his arrival from Middlesbrough as he curled home from a Holmes pass. Minutes later Wyke (69) was at it again as he scored a typical strikers goal to double our lead.

A second yellow card for Dempsey saw him go off but we still did enough to come away with the all-important points.

Attention now moves away from this game and turns to our next one against Shrewsbury and we are looking for your view on what way this will go?
