Mark Rivers (30) is the latest addition to Paul Simpson’s squad at Brunton Park. Simpson has had to patiently wait before pouncing to sign the striker/winger.

It was widely believed that Rivers, who also had a successful spell with Norwich City was to sign for Division One outfit – Blackpool. However the deal fell through at last moment allowing Simmo to make his move. Rivers has the ability to get past defenders and provide inch perfect crosses, he is also a decent enough goal scorer.

Crewe boss Dario Gradi has allowed United to take over Mark’s contract until the end of the season, preferring to utilise his proven youth system to fill first team spots at Gresty Road.
