Speaking to the Carlisle United Official website after the game against Oldham, Zigor Aranalde said: ‘It’s important that we keep going in games like that. We didn’t play well enough to win, but at the end of the day it is another important point and another one in the bag thanks to a great goal from Derek. We never gave up and I think we got our reward for that. Their goal was a bit slack from our point of view but, after that, I think they sat back a little bit, especially in the second half, so we just kept going and going until we got the goal. I think, overall, a draw was probably a fair result.’

‘It all depends which player you’ve got in front of you as to how you approach the game. If I’m playing with Johann, I don’t try so many overlaps because, to be honest, he’s a lot quicker than me! Plus he likes to play on the wing, take people on and beat his men. That’s the style of his play, whereas if I’m playing with someone like Jeff then we can link up a little bit closer, because he’s a different type of player. It all depends who’s on the field, and then you have to adapt to that.’

‘I was pleased to set up the goal, and the cross turned in to a good ball because it went just where the keeper had come from, and took him out of the play. It was a good goal and a good header by Derek, a typical centre forwards goal, and it was nice to see him finish it. After that we were trying to win it, and we had a couple of half chances. When a team scores that late it is a very difficult thing for the opposition to deal with, and we still had a little bit of time to find another, but it didn’t come, and I think we have to be happy with a point.’

‘We are now in the most important part of the season. As a professional these are the games you want to be playing in. Season in, season out ,these last ten games are the most vital. Everything is there to play for. There are enough points and everything is still in front of us, so if anyone thinks that there’s no point in keeping going – either to get something for the club or something for themselves – then they may as well hang up their boots and go home! My point of view is that it’s all still to play for, and we’ve got to go for it!’
