Carlisle produced the perfect response to seeing the unbeaten run we had previously been on coming to an end when we beat Oxford United on Saturday.

Having fallen behind two late goals, including a last minute winner, saw us come back to win 2-1 at Brunton Park.

Bolton Wanderers loanee George Iliev continues to seek his first goal for us since his arrival, and he had two good first half chances. One was straight at Oxford ‘keeper Ryan Clarke the other a volley over the ball having been set-up by a Mark Beck nod down after Kyle Dempsey had delivered a freekick.

Another chance, this time for Beck, was passed by when Danny Grainger’s cross was headed off target.

The most clear cut chance of all fell to Joe Riley though, put through by Andy Whing, he couldn’t make the most of the opportunity as he couldn’t even hit the target.

With half time approaching though Oxford did break through to go in one-nil up. Danny Rose set up Danny Hylton (45) and with his 11th goal of the season he beat Dan Hanford, despite his best efforts.

We didn’t look like we would get anything from the game until, with a little over 15-minutes to play, Potts crossed into Beck (73) to power a headed home to make it one-one.

A draw was looking on, which wouldn’t have been the worst result, until Dempsey’s corner was touched in by recent signing Derek Asamoah (89), again coming on from the bench as he did for his debut previously, for his second goal in as many games to give us a two-one win.
