Movin on up

It didn’t realy matter if Carlisle United lost this fixture. To be honest, most Carlisle fans wanted to end the season on a high, and had one eye on the formal Championship trohy presentation at Brunton Park later that evening.

As a spectacle this game was not a classic.
Stockport, as expected done most of the huffing and puffing, but they failed to achieve agreat deal, save a header which thumped against the United crossbar. Overall it was a fairly even game with both teams creating half chances but a draw was probably the right result.

A point apiece eventually ensured that Stockport survived, a deserved feat after the sterling work committed by Jim Gannon in recent weeks. His team surely wont find themselves struggling next time round? Its goodbye to Oxford United, they can look forward to some visits to awful stadiums and low low crowds on their travels.

As for Carlisle, well we’re moving on up, we have the likes of Nottingham Forest, Chesterfield, Crewe and Millwaall to look forward to. Its going to be a real challenge but one we are capable of rising too. I can’t wait for the summer to pass us by and next seasons entertainement to begin. Forget the play offs, forget the World Cup, I want more and more of Carlisle United and that fix cant come soon enough.

Well done to everyone connected and concerned with the greatest team in football, you all deserve it, well done to footballs greatest fans, you deserve it more than anyone. Come on Ye Blues….

Will Derick Holmes aka Homer and ex Bournemouth player be playing for Carlisle next season?. I’m sure he would get a warm welcome at Dean Court!
