It’s a long old journey to Portsmouth from Carlisle and it was an even longer one home after our 3-0 defeat at Fratton Park on Saturday afternoon.

Portsmouth controlled the game from the off with an early goal setting the tone with us ending with 10-men after a late sending off to Bolton Wanderers loanee Hayden White.

Miles Storey’s early effort was followed up by Craig Westcarr (2), after Dan Hanford spilled Storey’s effort, to give the hosts an early lead.

We came close to drawing level shortly after when Patrick Brough was narrowly ride with an effort, that Paul Jones turned around the post, with that as good as it got for us in the first half.

Storey (26) powered home the second before the half hour mark, a swift Portsmouth counter-attack saw Ricky Holmes pick out Storey who did the rest.

Improvement was seen in the second half but Portsmouth always looked the more likely to add to the goals but Hanford was able to keep other effort out until Danny Hollands (74) made absolutely certain with players lining up.

Our day got even worse, not only did we leaving having lost three-nil, we ended with 10-men when White was shown a straight red card for a late and reckless challenge of Hollands late on.
