Scott Shearer was literally the difference between these two sides, as Carlisle dominated a game that could so easily have proved to be another comfortable victory.
Shearer pulled off extraordinary stops from Chris Lumsdon, Derek Holmes and Adam Murray as United threatened to run riot.

Just as the media pundits suggested that Carlisle had missed enough chances to have buried this game and would they be punished for that – up popped Disley to fire Rovers into what was a shock lead. Hitting a 25 yard shot which careered past Westwood in the United goal and thundered into the United net off a post.

The set back did little to deter Blues who continued to throw everything except the kitchen sink at the Rovers goal. Finally it was Simon Hackney who once again determined the final result, this time nodding home a header to level matters.

United continued to press but Rovers, who def3ended in numbers were resolute and held onto a 1-1 draw. Once again United were cheered on by a large blues turn out, none of who will have been too disappointed by the 1-1 final scoreline.
